April 27th - Rewiring

I've just received the modified steering column back from MNR, it's had the screwthread removed and a quick release bracket welded on, I'm really impressed with the way it's been done, it's all shiny and neatly welded!

Now that I've received this I've been able to rebuild the steering wheel area and try out the paddleshift. Initial impressions are it's a bit too stiff so I've played around with leverage. Originally I had the longer finger out over the gear lever on the engine but I've changed this round, now the linkage seems much easier to operate with a very similar throw. Previously I could watch the m8 bar bend as the gear was changed!!

My major headache at the moment is the scuttle wiring. The pathfinder paddleshift makes it impossible to use the sierra stalks  so I need to do a  rewire. I figured this would be easy, but first impressions are not so good. I've worked out the indicators but the hazards are really stumping me. I can't figure out the wiring to replace the sierra setup with a savage switch. It's firing a relay so it shouldn't be too hard, should it?

The dash is looking good, I like the carbon inlay design, I'm just waiting on some black rivets to tidy it up.

I'm using a carbon offcut to fill the tunnel hole, the bit I cut for the gearshift is the perfect size for a  couple of savage switches so I've mounted them on carbon and fixed them to tunnel cover, I just have to rewire them.
