Ok, this is getting scary. I have posted off my SVA form and have just returned a load of info to Paul Jepsom of Kit Car Registrations. I was originally going to do the registration myself, after all I've SVAd imports and registered them before, so it can't be that difficult, can it? Two phonecalls to the DVLA later and there's no way I'm dealing with them! A helpful post on RHOCar sang the praises of Paul Jepson, he used to be the Kit Car expert at the Reading VRO but retired 2 years ago. A quick phone call to him, well, 35 minute phone call, and he's taken all of my details, filled out my SVA forms, DVLA forms, told me what he needs and will post them out to me, when I have my MAC form he'll then take it all to Reading VRO and register the car for me! Next morning and lo and behold, there they are on my doorstep. Now that's service. You would think that this service would be expensive, but the cost for this is a very reasonable £35!
The list of jobs is now tiny, I have to: Fit the rear panel top Fit the gaiters (when they arrive, 3 weeks and still waiting) Fit the rear reflectors Mesh the grill Mesh the bonnet scoop and fit it. Check it all runs Fit the headlights properly and adjust General SVA preparations
The rear panel has been cut out, lots of careful marking got me nicely shaped holes in the exact places, I'll never learnt, exact shape holes don't work, welds etc need to be taken into account so some of the holes are a bit oval.
I wasn't able to do much else this weekend, just check it ran properly. I fired it up in the open, and let it run for a while, it got up to 90 degrees and boiled over. I couldn't work out why. Then it dawned on me, fit expansion tank cap! Oops. Ah well, nothing left for this weekend, The SVA form is on it's way to Vosa so let's see what happens!
